Port Isabel Mission Trip, 2017
From June 25 to July 2nd six adults and ten youth from Bethel went to Fishers of Men Lutheran Church in Port Isabel to run their neighborhood outreach Vacation Bible School program. While there we also went to Way of the Cross Ministries in Harlingen to help get food sorted and organized for a variety of food emergency uses for several agencies and missionaries not only in the Rio Grande Valley but also in Mexico and some Central American countries.

Live Nativity 2016
Over the weekend of December 9-11, Bethel presented its third annual Live Nativity display. More than 1400 visitors attended the event over 3 evenings.
Men of Bethel (MOB) Skeet Shoot
On December 10, the Men of Bethel group held a skeet shoot social event. There were 21 who attended and everyone had a great time. Special thanks to Pat Kasper, Foster Ullmann, Charlie Coble and Kyle Kasper for assisting. Look for the next events and activities for the Men Of Bethel in the bulletin and newsletters. Next event is a Chili cook off at Morris Guyton's home on January 21, 2017.
Progressive Dinner 2016
On December 3rd, the 6th annual progressive dinner was held. 82 people gathered that night at several host homes for food and fellowship. First stop was to the 6 host homes for appetizers and fellowship with one group. Then we all gathered in the Parish Hall for a catered dinner and more fellowship. Lastly, we moved on to 6 different host homes for desserts and fellowship with a different group. It was a wonderful evening of getting to know one another better in our gracious host homes. A fun time was had by all!
Men of Bethel (MOB) - First Gathering
The first meeting of the "Men of Bethel" men's group at the home of Greg Herwald. We had 28 men taking part in a great evening. We plan on having quarterly activities for either fellowship or service.
National Youth Gathering 2016
The LCMS has a National Lutheran Youth Gathering every three years for the past 30+ years, currently drawing around 28,000 youth and adults. This year it will be in New Orleans July 16-20. Bethel has 26 youth and adults attending along with former member Jason Muller and a youth from his church. We'll travel with the group from Trinity Lutheran in Navasota on a chartered bus. While there we'll have large group sessions in the Superdome, other activities in the massive Convention Center & take part in a community service event. We continue to be thankful to Bethel for the tremendous support we are given for this and other events.
Our hotel is on Canal Street, one of the main thoroughfares in downtown New Orleans.
Live Nativity 2015
Over the weekend of December 11-13, Bethel presented it second annual Live Nativity display. Unfortunately, Saturday evening was rained out, but Friday and Sunday evenings were well attended.
Live Nativity Setup, 2015
On Saturday, December 5, a crew worked to get the stable, manger, and all of the lights and decorations necessary for the Live Nativity display ready for the December 11-13 presentation of the second annual Live Nativity display.
Halloween, 2015
On October 31 (All Saints Eve, or Halloween), several members were at Post Oak Mall participating in the 'Trick-or-Treat' activity there. They distributed Candy Canes along with an invitation to visit Bethel's Live Nativity display scheduled for December 11-13.
Youth Garage Sale
On August 8, Bethel held their annual Youth Garage Sale, raising money for both Youth activities, such as the District Gathering, and the Bethel Preschool. Everything in the sale was donated, and it was all sold (or redonated) in the one day of the event.
District Youth Gathering, 2015
July 16-19, a dozen of our teens and five adults attended the District Youth Gathering Glorybound in San Marcos. This event is held every three years.
Mission VBS, 2015
On July 27 & 28, the board of Witness and Outreach sponsored repeat of Bethel's VBS program at Still Creek Ranch, for the benefit of their kids. They served 30 boys with music, crafts, games and God's Word. Because of privacy concerns at SCR, the children's faces are not shown in these photos.
Vacation Bible School 2015
VBS was held June 14-18 this year, with 56 member families participating along with 36 visiting families. Nearly 200 meals were served each night, there were 65-70 children in Kindergarten and younger. Another 60-65 elementary age children also attended. Here are some photos from the week.
